  1. Delete all associated files from your system after starting PC in Safe Mode:-
  2. For this, firstly, restart your Windows operating system in safe mode. In this startup, please select the ‘Safe Mode with Networking option.
  3. For Windows 8 & 10 Users:-  Press Win key + C, click on Settings icon -> click on Power icon, hold down Shift on keyboard >> Then tap on Restart option.
  4. Select Troubleshoot-> Advanced Options-> Startup Settings and then press Restart.
  5. Now, identify and delete all harmful files related to malware infection.

Deleting Malware By Unhiding The Protected Operating System Files

  1. Show Hidden Files & Folders:-  
  2. GO to Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > View (tab).
  3. Select Show hidden files and folders and non-select Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). 
  4. Click OK. 
  5. Now, proceed to delete all suspicious or virus-associated files from your PC.

Delete Malware From Task Manager

  1. Delete Malicious Processes related to malware from Task Manager:-  
  2. Press ‘Ctrl+Shift+ESC’ altogether to open Windows Task Manager. 
  3. Now click on the Process tab and identify malicious processes of malware. 
  4. Select the threatening process and click on the End task button to stop and delete that process permanently from the system.

Deleting Malware From Registry Editor

  1. Go to Start > type Run > Open it
  2. Type “Regedit ” without quotes and click OK. 
  3. It opens Windows Registry Editor. Find and delete all harmful/suspicious entries immediately. 
  4. To do so, you need to follow this path   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options.

Steps to Remove .com Virus Infection From CMD

Open the command prompt by pressing the ‘Start + R’ keys together. Type “cmd” in the command line and press Enter. It will open the Windows command processor and type the following commands one-by-one to delete all existing files of  virus infection completely from your system 

Step 1

 cd\ 

This command will take you to the root directory.

Note: You must be in max directories by typing “cd\” without quotes followed by the maximum number of characters as possible

cd windows\system32\drivers” Once you are in this directory, type attrib filename.exe + 

-s -r -a -h

Note:- After each command, you will get a message that the process has been completed. To verify it, you must go to the directory in which the file was present initially and then type “dir” without quotes.

Step 2

Now you need to open the registry editor in your system. To do so, type 

regedit 

Then press Enter 

Note: This command will open the registry editor

Step 3

Now check .com virus infection folders one by one via this path  

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options

Step 4

Delete all folders associated with malware infection completely.

Step 5

Now go to the command prompt again and type attrib 

-s -r -a -h

Press Enter. This will show you files whose attributes have been changed. Now you need to restore the file attributes.

Step 6

Now type 

chmod +x filename.exe

Press Enter. This will reset file attributes to normal. 

Now again go to registry editor and delete all folders via path

HKEY->LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->Microsoft->WindowsNT->CurrentVersion->Image File Execution Options

Step 7

Now you need to open the registry editor and then navigate to this path

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\.FTPClient 

Delete all files associated with malware infection from there.

Note: If we delete any folder, we need to take ownership first and then delete it by right-clicking on the folder. The same method is used in the command prompt.

Step 8 

Now you need to open registry editor and then navigate to this path

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.FTPRepair

Step 10 

Delete all folders associated with malware infection from there. You have to open the registry editor one more time and delete all broken entries via this path. 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.

Step 11

Now you have to open registry editor and then navigate to this path

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework

Step 12

Now you have to open registry editor and then navigate to this path

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\.NETFramework

Step 13

  1. Now try to do a system restore using a legitimate source of Windows. 
  2. Restart your computer and press F8 before windows start loading
  3. Select the “Safe Mode” option from the boot menu 
  4. Press Enter  

Note: If you are using Windows 8, then select the repair option by pressing shift + F8 

Step 14 

  1. After restarting the system in safe mode, press Ctrl+Alt+Del all at once to open the task manager. 
  2. Now select the associated malware processes one by one and 
  3. Click on the End Task button to delete them permanently.

Step 15

  1. Now open the control panel of your PC and move to add/remove programs 
  2. Remove .com virus infection entirely by clicking on it.

Step 16

  1. Now open Windows task manager. 
  2. Select the processes tab and then look carefully into running processes. 
  3. If you found any process related to the .com virus, right-click on it and select the End Task option to delete it from the system immediately.
